Archway Contracting

This project was coordinated by TWR Construction who contracted us to remove the existing wood floor and to replace it with a vinyl bamboo floor.

About the Project

  The original floor in this salon consisted of a glue-down wood floor which was buckling in certain areas.  This 900 square foot floor was removed with a lot of hard work by Archway Contracting.

  Once the wood floor was taken up, the glue still remained on the concrete.  This had to be removed by using a power scraper with carbide bits. 

  When removing the wood floor, some pieces of the concrete floor came with it, creating divots in the floor.  These were filled using Mapei self-leveling cement.

  Since the original wood floor was 3/4" thick and the new floor is only 3/16" thick, we had to create a ramp at the transition areas.  This was done using the Mapei self-leveling cement.

  Now the floor was in shape to lay the new vinyl bamboo flooring tiles.  This product was Armstrong Luxe Tile Planks.

  After the vinyl floor tiles were installed the trim was installed.

  We then cleaned and sealed the floor using the recommended products from Armstrong.
