Shower Tile Options

• Corner Shelf - economical way to create storage areas for product.
• Inset Shelf - great way to create a storage area and save room in the shower, because it indents into the wall.
• Shaver Shelf - Small corner shelf for women to step on to shave their legs.
• Seat - Can be built in, or a corner mount.
• Accent Strip - Decorative strip that adds design and style.  Can be vertical or horizontal
• Patterns - brick, subway, diagonal, pinwheel, and many other patterns create elegant design and feel.
• Glass Block Window - A great way to allow natural light into the shower and to keep privacy.

Water Protection - When installing tile in a shower it is very important to provide the proper seal for water.  This includes a combination of materials that depends on the shower base.

• Bathtub/Fiberglass Shower Base - The idea with this scenario is to bring the cement-board down to the top edge of the lip on the fiberglass base.  Seal this gap with silicon.  The tile will then go over that lip, and sealed with silicon.

When the walls are prepared for tile, the final step is to tape and mud the seams with fiberglass mesh tape and thin-set. Now the shower should be prepped.

   Shower tile can be many different types of materials.  The one thing that you should be careful of when choosing a tile is the degree roughness.  What that means is to generally not used a rough natural stone tile that will pocket dirt and stains, creating a problem to clean.

     Otherwise, most tile is acceptable for showers, some more maintenance friendly than others.
