When selecting tile for your remodeling project, one question that will come up is what size should you choose. Typical tile sizes range from 1" to 24".
This picture shows a 4" x 8" white ceramic tile on the lower portion and a 3" x 6" glass tile on the upper half. These are separated by a decorative strip consisting of a white pencil piece and glass mosaic tiles.
Here is some helpful information to consider when selecting a tile size for your project:
Floor Tile
Traditionally floor tiles were typically six inches or less. This has become out of style, and bigger is now better. 12 inch tiles are the smallest tiles used on floors now, besides smaller tiles used as accents or patterns with the larger ones.
Bathroom floors range from 25 to 80 square feet. For this sized floor, 12" to 18" tiles will look the best leaning to 12" for the smaller bathrooms and 18" for the larger baths.
